Stan – the former editor-in-chief, publisher, and chairman of Marvel Comics – helped create the Marvel Universe as we know it, co-creating characters such as Spider-Man, the Hulk, and Thor.
Before his death, Stan had a cameo in every film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) – including his final one in Avengers: Endgame.
Sadly though, it doesn’t look like the comic book legend got to see his final cameo, as Kevin Feige recently confirmed he didn’t watch any of the film before his death.
When asked if Stan got a chance to check out an early screener of Avengers: Endgame on a Reddit AMA thread, Feige revealed that the pop culture creator preferred seeing them on the big screen.
Stan loved to wait to see the final movie at the premiere, so unfortunately he did not get to see the finished movie. Stan got a download of the full story the day he came and shot his cameo.
While Stan didn’t get to watch the ‘grand conclusion’ of 22 films, he was at least clued up as to what the film entailed – having received a download of the full story when he shot his (incredible) cameo.
As per CinemaBlend, Stan made his cameo in Endgame during the film’s second act, in the Time Heist sequence.
After accidentally allowing Loki to escape with the Space Stone, Captain America and Tony Stark travelled back to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters in 1970. Around about this time, we see a car driving by with Stan behind the wheel, telling the government agency to make love, not war.
Feige didn’t hold back when answering other fan questions either, confirming that Captain America ‘was always worthy‘ to lift Thor’s hammer, and ‘he was being polite in Age of Ultron‘.
Not only that, but the president of Marvel Studios also confirmed that the shows on Disney’s upcoming streaming service will weave into the films ‘totally and completely,’ offering an opportunity to ‘flesh out’ some of the lesser-known characters from the Marvel Universe ‘on a grand scale’.
Well, it certainly looks like it’s an exciting time for Marvel.
Rest in peace, Stan.
